Tumeric latte’s have become my afternoon pick me up! It is very warming and calming to my digestive system…. to be honest, it did take a me a few times to get used to the taste of drinking tumeric but my body is now craving the taste!
Why tumeric? Tumeric’s medicinal properties dates back 4,000 years! It’s bright yellow color has has given it’s name of the “golden spice.”
#1 BENEFIT OF TUMERIC is the fact that it is ANTI-INFLAMMATORY! It has the ability to calm down any inflammation that is in the body. Think of inflammation like a bank robbery where all personnel are alerted to the scene to help. The same way in the body, when the immune system is compromised an inflammatory response occurs and specific cytokines are released in order to deal with any unwanted material to allow for healing to occur.⠀
Inflammation in certain situations is great, but when we start to see inflammation occurring chronically where it should not be occurring is when we see problems such as ARTHRITIS, DIGESTIVE CONCERNS, PAIN, AND PCOS!
Tumeric has been used in many different conditions such as… (generally in pill form at higher dosages than regular dietary consumption)
- Arthritis
- IBS
- Wounds
- Asthma
- Allergies
- Abdominal pain
- Sprains
- Peptic ulcers
- Endometriosis (Check out my article on Endometriosis here)
- PCOS
- I could keep going…
Fun fact:
The black pepper in the paste actually has a component called piperine which helps to increase the absorption of tumeric!
