A small but well designed study in 2018 showed tha A small but well designed study in 2018 showed that probiotic supplementation can reduce total testosterone.

This study was 12 weeks long and it also showed that probiotics increase sex hormone binding globulin which can bind up testosterone reducing its’ effects on the body in PCOS (ie. acne hirsutism and hair loss)

Additionally, hs-crp, a marker of inflammation was reduced.

I often find a multistrain probiotic can work well here. Generally you want a probiotic to have lactobacillus and bifidobacterium and around 11-20 billion for a daily dose. Speak to your healthcare provider on which probiotic is best for you!

Who is enjoying the warm weather with a glass of r Who is enjoying the warm weather with a glass of rosé?

I personally haven’t had a drink in awhile. Being pregnant then breastfeeding has limited my drinking. I know I can have a drink while breastfeeding but to be very honest I usually don’t feel the best after alcohol. It usually makes me tired and I don’t sleep well that night. Probably because my liver can’t handle it.

I thought I would share some of my tips while drinking this summer with you so that you can be patio ready!

When it comes to Polycystic ovarian syndrome we know balancing blood sugar is key. Opting for a low sugar drink is important here. A lot of drinks are mixed with high sugar fruit juices or pop. So instead look for drinks with low sugar content. The socialite brand could be a good one here!

Your liver needs extra support while drinking. So always drink a glass of water after each drink. Especially if you are drinking outdoors. Last thing you want is a headache after that social event! I’ve been there.

It may sound lame but a mock-tail may be a better bet especially if you have issues with your liver enzymes or fatty liver.

Drinking alcohol always seems to come with a bag of chips in my past. Who else?! I munch like crazy when having a drink. Try your best to have a balanced meal while drinking so that it doesn’t impact your blood sugar as much. Especially if there is some sugar in the drink.

What is your go to summer drink?? Drop it in the comments below 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

This is exactly how food can impact ovulation in w This is exactly how food can impact ovulation in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. If diet isn’t altered it can be hard to regulate the cycle in a lot of women who have PCOS.

Women with PCOS can make higher levels of insulin in response to glucose resulting in higher testosterone. Testosterone can block estrogen production making it harder to ovulate.

When we ovulate this is the time where we produce a good amount of progesterone. So if we are not ovulating regularly the brain isn’t exposed to the progesterone causing testosterone to remain high.

In my experience diet is the key to correcting this. If you need support in this area please reach out!
