[3min read] I always dreamed of having a career wh [3min read] I always dreamed of having a career where I could help people. When I was diagnosed with PCOS by my Naturopathic Doctor and Family doctor…I felt like I needed help. I was alone, confused and hurt. That I had this thing I had to deal with. Something I knew nothing about and not very many people could help me with. ⁣
⁣
The only hope I had was when I saw a Naturopathic Doctor who helped guided and coached me on what was truly going on. I felt like I was being helped and this propelled me into learning more and more about what was going on in my body and everything you could possibly imagine about hormones. ⁣
⁣
𝘋𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭. ⁣
⁣
I always felt a sense of fulfillment and worth when a friend, family member or colleague would confide in me with their problems and trust that I would listen and support them. ⁣
⁣
𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯. ⁣
⁣
This is why I wake up in the morning, to guide women, teach them, support them and ultimately help them to: ⁣
⁣
- Lose weight ⁣
- Gain energy ⁣
- Feel beautiful ⁣
- Feel less stressed and anxious ⁣
- Eat to fuel their body ⁣
- Regulate their cycles ⁣
- Become pregnant ⁣
- And more. ⁣
⁣
It is not an easy job, let me tell you. I’ve challenged myself in becoming a Naturopathic Doctor and I could not be happier. Some days are tough and other days are super easy. ⁣
⁣
But one thing always remains the same, that drives me every single day….is my drive and determination to help even just one more person learn something about how they can feel better.

Drop a 💖 if you made it to the end of my story! ps. thanks for reading.

When it comes to endometriosis there are specific When it comes to endometriosis there are specific goals to keep in mind in terms of treatment.

The treatment goals we consider include:

💛Reduce inflammation
💛Balance the immune system
💛Balance hormones (ie. estrogen and progesterone)
💛Support the liver’s function of detoxing hormones
💛Reduce stress
💛Prevent an increased production of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the body

Treatments will focus around these principles and look at the overall health of the body.

When it comes to endometriosis one of the biggest goals is to reduce inflammation.

Diet is a huge area where we can help to reduce inflammation. In my clinical experience, when patients with endometriosis consume a dairy and gluten-free diet, they feel much better. Their pain decreases and they feel less inflamed.

Other treatments to consider include exercise, acupuncture, supplementation and botanical medicine.

Stay tuned for more information throughout the month.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month and through March is Endometriosis Awareness Month and throughout the month I will be posting information on this topic!

Endometriosis occurs when the cells lining uterus travel outside to other parts of the body and implant into different areas such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, rectum, intestines or pelvic cavity. Just to name a few areas. These cells are similar to the cells that are created in the uterus and are shed during menstruation. The cells can accumulate and end up forming scar tissue.

Endometriosis can cause very painful periods, and no women should have to suffer through this.

If you or know someone who may experience very painful periods, please get them to view this article I wrote on #endometriosis.

Acne... Excessive Hair growth... Hair loss.. Acne...
Excessive Hair growth...
Hair loss...

These are all the symptoms that can come with high testosterone in PCOS.

I would say these are all equally annoying to deal with. I suffered from acne in my teens and 20s. I also suffered from excessive hair growth but assumed that was because of my background and that I inherited my dad's genes. Lol

But the more and more I understood what comes with PCOS, the more I realized, it wasn't just my background. Other people in my family didn't have these symptoms.

It was just me.

Striving for clear skin and going to the esthetician almost every other week to get my face waxed, was my norm.

These symptoms are frustrating, embarrassing, and super annoying.

I feel you.

The one thing I can say is when there is high Testosterone, it is always important to determine the cause. Medications like spironolactone or the birth control pill can help temporarily but once you come off you may notice the symptoms come back. Even with supplements, the most common herb prescribed for this is saw palmetto. However, again coming off the herb may increase the symptoms.

Causes of high testosterone include:
- insulin resistance
- low progesterone

I suggest working with a practitioner to help you to really identify the cause when it comes to high testosterone.

+++Click the link in my profile then this image to read more about how to lower testosterone.

Do you suffer from symptoms of high testostone? What is your most predominant symptom (ie. acne/hair loss/hair growth)?

The best way to support your heart for #Heart4PCOS The best way to support your heart for #Heart4PCOS is to eat vegetables.

Sounds so simple, but this is the main component in the DASH diet, that has been shown to be protective for the heart.

Green leafy vegetables in fact are one of the best foods to help with heart health. These vegetables are made up of vitamin K and nitrates that help reduce blood pressure and improve arterial function.

Additionally, studies show that HIGHER consumption of green leafy vegetables is associated with reduced heart disease risk.

So get your greens in! 🥗

Kale is by far my favourite green leafy vegetable.

I like to just chop it up, add some cherry tomatoes, avoacdo, hemp seeds, cucumber with a lemon olive oil salt and pepper salad dressing. It's so easy and tastes so good.

What's your favourite green leafy vegetable?
