A research article came out today on N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and PCOS. This is a systematic review and meta-analysis meaning researchers have looked at many different studies and come up with a conclusion. What they have found is NAC supplementation can decrease total testosterone levels and increase FSH (follicle stimulating hormone). FSH stimulates the follicles in our ovaries to produce estrogen. By reducing testosterone, this can help estrogen to rise and to eventually help us to ovulate!
This is probably one of my most used supplements..it helps the body in so many ways. NAC is an antioxidant and can help the liver as well since it is a precursor to glutathione (one of our most important antioxidants for our liver).
NAC also has been shown to help with PCOS acne.
Watch my youtube video HERE where I discuss what causes PCOS acne and how to treat it.
